Ian Costabile is a Brazilian composer and sound artist based in the UK since 2009, who has recently earned a PhD in Music Composition from the University of Liverpool. His works often explore interactivity, lights and sound spatialisation. Ian has written experimental music for orchestra and chamber music, collaborating with renowned musicians from around the globe. His most recent musical experiments have focused on spatial sound, the use of light devices and themes relating to stars and constellations. His music has also been used as the soundtrack for documentaries, such as the award-winning Ultraviolence (dir. Ken Fero). As a sound artist, Ian has been working with sound-light installations, most notably through his Sound Canvas media, which consists of mixed media art that presents sound and light interaction through embedded loudspeakers, LEDs, sensors, microcontrollers and compact multichannel systems. Similarly, his Sound Graffiti project applies this approach to outdoor installations, creating sound webs in public spaces through customised urban loudspeakers. Download CV
